Acupuncture is one of the main modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine, since the 13th century, in China; it has been used in gynaecology.
In gynaecology, acupuncture is considered to be useful to treat some of the energetic unbalances that affect women in different physiological stages in their lives, given that it acts at a hypothalamus -hypophysis- ovarian axis and feminine physiological level.
It is used for:
The regulation of the menstrual cycle (see ‘I love Me’ Programme – Acupuncture so as to get a regular menstrual cycle, to treat menstrual and premenstrual cramps, cephalea and psicoemotional alterations associated with the menstruation. In addition, it is also recommended for external genital itching, pelvic inflammation, vulvodynia, postpartum urinary incontinence, lower limbs oedema and postpartum depression, agalactia and mastitis.
It is thought it helps the symptomatology associated with the menopause such as stress, anxiety, insomnia, hot flashes, depression, etc.
